iKids - Children's Ministry

Discovery Land
logo
Discovery Land is our Sunday morning children’s ministry which runs during the same time as the adult worship service. Children (age 4- 5th grade) participate in games, worship through song, prayer, scripture memory, Bible lessons, discussion time, activities, and more! It is a high energy time for kids to engage with Jesus, caring adults from the children’s ministry team, and other kids.

On months with five Sundays, Discovery Land meets with the adult worship service on the 5th Sunday to help them learn from and connect with the large church family.

Each week, your child will bring home a handout which will inform you of the lesson components for that day and help you to reinforce the Bible message at home and further engage with your child throughout the week. It is our hope that with your help, your child will recall the message of the lesson and be motivated to share with you as well as strive to memorize the month's Bible verse.

Children must be signed in and out on the lower level by a parent/guardian for the safety and security of your children. All adult volunteers are required to pass a background check before serving.

The goal of Discovery Land is to help children (age 4-grade 5) discover who they were created to be. For us, we believe that they were created for connections… connections with Christ, the Church (other Christians), and their Community.
Nursery
Each Sunday we have nursery services available for children birth-age 3. Children are checked in on the lower level of the building in our safe nursery environments, where they will be loved and cared for by background checked adults while parents worship in the main sanctuary. A private mother’s room is also located behind the sanctuary for mothers to tend to their infant’s specific needs while still being able to view the morning service.
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
VBS is a fun & free opportunity during the summer for your children and their friends! We take one week out of the summer for a special spiritual emphasis for our children called Vacation Bible School. This is an opportunity to meet with kids several nights during the week, to pour God’s love and the truth of his Word into their lives. The children AND the adults all have a BLAST at VBS!! More specific information is available in the early summer leading up to VBS.
Summer Camps
During the summer, we plan a variety of camps to minister to children and their families. The camp ministry starts off with our soccer camp lead by the Missionary Athletes Intl & Nike Soccer sponsored Chicago Eagles Soccer organization and concludes with our Vacation Bible School program. In between we take day trips to some exciting area locations such as Brookfield Zoo.
What is iKids?
iKids is the name given to our children's ministry. It is branded in conjunction with the vision statement of iKids, that each kid would discover that: "I am created to connect with Christ, my church, and my community."

iWorship – Connection to Christ

iAm God’s – Children are human beings who were designed to bear God’s image in order that they might connect with God through a personal relationship.
iAm Valued – being created in God’s image means I matter and that God has a plan and a purpose for my life
iAm Loved – God loved me enough to send Jesus for me.
iCelebrate – Because of how much God loves me, I celebrate who he is in worship through songs, fun and play, and with all areas of my life

iGrow – Connection to the Church

iAttend – Regular attendance at church is a healthy part of my connection to the family of God
iDevote – The Bible is God’s message to me to know him and to follow him
iPray – prayer is my opportunity to express my praises as well as my needs and concerns to God
iListen – listening to adults and even other children helps me learn about how God interacts with us and helps me to trust Jesus more.

Share – Connection to the Community

iWitness – if I have accepted Jesus, I have a story to share with others about the Good News of Jesus.
iServe – God has SHAPEd me uniquely to serve him inside the church and in my family, school, and community.
iInvite – Because God loves me, and because I am growing at iKids, I invite other children to learn, grow, and be loved with me!

Youth Ministry

Youth group is a time for teens to grow in their faith and explore what it means to be a follower of Christ as they interact with one another and our adult staff. It is a place for teens to come and feel comfortable being themselves no matter where they are on their spiritual journey with the Lord. Our desire is to come alongside of our students to help them see the value that God has created them with, to let them know they are loved and not alone during the teen years, to help answer questions they may have about who God is and what it means to be a Christian, and to help them grow on a spiritual journey with Jesus Christ.

We read the Bible and pray together, and talk about issues that teens are dealing with in their personal lives. Along with this we play “stupid” games to unwind and have fun. Several times a year, we also plan trips and outings to hang out together and to grow deeper in our walk with the Lord.

Youth meets each week on Thursdays from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM from September through May. Both Junior High (6-9th grade) and Senior High (9th-12th grade) programs meet during those times.

Women's Ministry

MOPS

MOPS meet on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month from September to May from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm. All mothers are welcome from those expecting to those with elementary age children!

MOPS is for moms who are expecting a child through having preschool age children, and Moms Next is for mothers of children in elementary school.

During these meeting times you can expect to fellowship during a dinner (dinner is provided through a meal rotation within the group of moms), a devotional and time of prayer, and a variety of special speakers and/or video presentations and breakout discussions. Sometimes games, crafts and special themes such as a “Pamper Night” are a part of the evening fun!

The MOPS organization collects an annual fee at the beginning of the year which helps fund their international organization as well as their global missions efforts. Additional dues are collected to help cover the costs for the meetings themselves. Visit: http://www.mops.org/ for more details!
